Fluff Dry

laundromat, caterwaul, genius

“I don’t understand,” Joey said, sighing. “I don’t get why you of all people, you who, y’know, picks up pennies off the street, because, hey, money, why you have such a thing for laundromats.”

JC brushed some hair away from his face. “I like it.”

“We have people who can do this now, you know. For us. You have a perfectly good washer and dryer at home. This is insane.”

JC raised an eyebrow at him. “Joey, if you’ve got other things you’d rather be doing, you’re under no obligation to keep me company. I’ve got a book. I’ve got my discman. I can entertain myself.”

Joey pulled himself onto a washing machine, making a face. “I bet you can.”

JC rolled his eyes.

Joey picked at his jeans. “I dunno. It’s just weird, is all.”

“I am the weird one,” JC said softly, separating colors from whites.

“Hey.”

JC smiled. “Doesn’t matter, Joe. Really.”

Joey slid off the washer and leaned next to JC. “They just don’t know you like I do.”

JC smiled wider. “No one does.” It was Joey’s turn to blush. “You remember the time I let you do laundry, and you turned everything blue.”

“Stupid Superman shirt,” Joey grumbled under his breath.

JC ducked his head, sliding quarters into the machine. “I don’t know. I kind of liked having blue underwear.”

“You looked mad sexy in that underwear,” Joey whispered, reaching for JC, who moved out of his reach. “Brought out your eyes.”

“I don’t think you were looking at my eyes, Fatone,” JC smirked, then hooted as Joey pushed him into a laundry cart. “Watch the goods.”

“I’ll watch the goods all right,” Joey murmured, advancing on the cart, laughing as he fell on top of JC, the two of them caterwauling at each other as it careened out of control, eventually coming to rest against a wall. His breath caught as he looked down at JC, under him, flushed and happy and just. Right. “I think maybe I get the laundry thing,” he leaned down, resting his forehead against JC’s.

“Told you I knew what I was doing,” JC’s hands wrapped around Joey’s neck, tangled in soft hairs.

“We’re all alone, right?” Joey breathed against JC’s cheek, lips sweeping along hot skin.

“Lonnie’s outside watching the door,” JC pulled Joey close.

“Genius,” Joey said, kissing full lips.

“Knew you’d come around.” JC’s laughter echoed in the empty room.
